POETRY AND ART IN ITALY

POGGIBONSI OVERSHADOWS CIVIL POETRY AND ART
FROM EVERYONE GROUP

June 2, 2012.

The blog of Luigia Sorrentino (Rai News) promotes the poetry book "The Silence of the Violins",
the painting of the young Roma artist Rebecca Covaciu,
the music of Novak Tudor (Roma accordion virtuoso) and Marcello Zuinisi,
programed as cultural and artistic peak in the Festival of Shadows in Staggia Senese (Poggibonsi, Siena).

The Presidency of the Council and UNAR (Anti-discrimination Office of the Italian Government) granted a prestigious sponsorship.

The Council of Europe associated to the event its initiative "Protecting the rights of Roma."

The Happening scheduled for June 11, however, was incredibly canceled by the organizers.

In Italy the political world doesn't want to give space to culture and rights of the Roma

"For my part, I feel a great bitterness," said Roberto Malini, activist and author with Paul Polansky of the book 'The Silence the Violins', "but also a sense of danger for the human rights and the democracy as a fundamental value of the country.

How do the public administration censor - again - the beauty, truth, free art?"

ROBERTO MALINI

Our museum has a copy of the Silence of the Violins and it's wonderful.  Strong and brave.
Both Roberto Malini and Paul Polansky work tirelessly for Human Rights.
They both, and the other artists deserve our support.
